The White Rock Library has created a StoryWalk® celebrating water in conjunction to the opening of the Pinon Park Splash Pad to the public, County Libraries Youth Services Director Melissa Mackey said Friday.
The StoryWalk® is based on the book “Jabari Jumps” by Gaia Cornwall and is about a little boy working up the courage to jump off a diving board. The book was featured in People Magazine and the New York Times and was selected as an Amazon Best Children’s Book of the Year.
Starting all the way down in front of the library, the story walk goes along the sidewalk and across the bridge to the Splash Pad with opportunities to take photos in front of one of the signs.
“You can take a photo of your child or family with one of the pages and text it to (505) 500-4406 to be entered in a drawing to win copies of the book. The drawing for winners is July 1, 2021,” Mackey said.
She said two more StoryWalk® creations are coming up that will be centered around Mesa Public Library. The current StoryWalk® was chosen with a water theme specifically for the Splash Pad.
