
Danny Esquibel, 47, a resident of Penasco, a beloved father, grandfather, son, uncle, and friend left us unexpectedly on Friday May 28, 2021, to be with the Lord. Danny was born on July 9, 1973, in Taos, New Mexico.
Danny will be remembered for his sense of humor. He made friends everywhere he went and enjoyed having conversations with anyone and everyone. Danny loved Alexis and Danny with all his heart. He enjoyed wrestling with his grandson Ethan and singing “Wheels on the Bus” with his granddaughter Jazzy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle. He will be missed every moment of every day. We were blessed to have him in our life.
Danny started working at Albertsons at a very young age. Years later he went to work with his dad at American Pumice in Santa Fe, NM. Danny always wanted to work in Los Alamos. He started working with the laborers union with Henderson Construction, then transferred to Johnson Controls. He decided to transfer to the teamsters union and started working with Protege Inc. until he transferred to LANL.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Margarito and Heralia Esquibel, maternal grandparents Bernave and Aurelia Ortega, father-in-law Orlando Gurule Sr., uncles Andres Esquibel, Joe Adonelio Esquibel, and aunt Marianita Leyba.
Danny is survived by his parents Gilbert and Prescilla Esquibel, daughter Alexis (Albert Martinez), son Danny Esquibel, grandchildren Ethan and Jazmyn Martinez, brother Gilbert Esquibel (Brianna), mother of his children Julie Gurule, partner Alice Gonzales, her children Angelina, Alyson, and Zachary Archuleta, nephews Raymond and Anthony Esquibel, Felix, Joseph and Joshua Gurule, nieces Brittany Esquibel and Alicia Cordova, other nephews, nieces, many other relatives and friends.
Public viewing will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, June 09, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Church in Penasco, NM. He will be laid to rest at the Llano de San Juan Catholic Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers are Danny Esquibel, Albert Martinez, Ethan Martinez, Orlando Gurule Jr. Fabian Vigil, Joseph Gurule Jr., Joseph Gurule, Ricky Valdez.
