FRIENDS OF LOS ALAMOS PRIDE NEWS

Join the Friends of Los Alamos Pride and partner and sponsor Los Alamos County for an LGBTQIA+ teen romantic comedy movie night under the stars at White Rock Overlook Park, 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 9. Arrive early to reserve your spot and enjoy the Los Alamos Hill Stompers’ performance of festive music celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. Whether it’s through spoken word, oral history, movies, books, or art, representation of LGBTQIA+ stories makes a huge difference for people of all ages exploring their sexuality, and plays a big role in creating a safe and compassionate world for LGBTQIA+ teens and adults.

“Love, self-discovery, and acceptance are universal themes in the lives of ALL youth, but even more so for LGBTQ+ youth,” George Marsden, Friends of Los Alamos Pride Board Member and Director of the YMCA Los Alamos Teen Center, says. “We hope you will join us for this great COVID-safe movie event that celebrates those universal themes.”

The movie is best for ages 13+. Register for tickets HERE. Bring a blanket and chairs and please practice social distancing.

You’ll find more great LGBTQIA+ stories in the collections at Los Alamos Public Libraries. This screening is part of Los Alamos Pride week 2021. Doors open at 7:30 p.m.; movie programmed to start at 8:00 p.m.; presented with English subtitles.
