The majority of PEEC’s talks will continue to take place online in June, but more in-person programming, like the popular Summer Family Evening events, will also be starting up next month. PEEC hopes to host additional in-person programming and talks starting in July. Visit PEEC’s upcoming events page at peecnature.org/events to see what’s on the horizon.
In addition to updating the center’s open hours, PEEC is adopting new mask guidance in June. Starting June 1, masks will be optional for visitors, staff and volunteers who have been vaccinated for COVID-19. Unvaccinated individuals, including children under 12, are required to continue wearing a mask while visiting the Los Alamos Nature Center. All visitors should continue to wear a mask while visiting the nature center in May.

PEEC was founded in 2000 to serve the community of Los Alamos. It offers people of all ages a way to enrich their lives by strengthening their connections to our canyons, mesas, mountains and skies. PEEC operates the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road, holds regular programs and events and hosts a number of interest groups from birding to hiking to butterfly watching. The Los Alamos Nature Center is currently closed due to COVID-19, but there are many ways to learn about nature and interact with PEEC online. PEEC activities are open to everyone; however, members receive exclusive benefits such as discounts on programs and merchandise. Annual memberships start at $35.
