NMSP: Motorcyclist Dies In Crash Sunday In Rio Arriba County


On Sunday (May 23) at around 2:00 p.m. the New Mexico State Police were alerted to a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV on New Mexico State Road 399 near milepost 2 outside of Espanola.

The initial investigation indicates that a Kawasaki Motorcycle being driven by Larry Manzanarez, 43, of Hernandez, NM was traveling south on SR 399 at a high rate of speed.  For unknown reasons, the motorcycle crossed into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a 2011 GMC Yukon that was traveling north.  Mr. Manzanarez sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene by the Office of the Medical Investigator.  The driver of the Yukon was uninjured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash which is under investigation by the New Mexico State Police.
