STEM SANTA FE NEWS
The COVID-19 pandemic has been very unsettling for us all. But one negatively impacted group in particular has been K-12 students as their learning and social development has been seriously disrupted. In response to the pandemic, STEM Santa Fe stepped up its activities and continued to provide engaging innovative, hands-on programs virtually to enhance students’ Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.
STEM Santa Fe mainly focuses on serving Northern New Mexico students in 5th-12th grade, providing engaging project-based programming with real-world context. We aim to reduce disparity in educational opportunities and to increase diversity in STEM by offering our programs at low to no cost to families.
Dr. Lina Germann, CEO of STEM Santa Fe noted: “Motivating our youth and keeping their minds active is of highest priority. We had quite a year offering engaging programming virtually but now we are ready to go back to in-person programming with a line-up of one-week STEM/STEAM camps this summer, to trigger students’ interests in a variety of topics. We are excited to be offering camps for the first time at NORTHERN New Mexico College.”

Each camp is one week long and limited to 20 students. The registration fee is $25/week, waived upon request, and it includes lunch, thanks to our Title Sponsor Wildflower International. Other Sponsors include: LANL/TRIAD, NCGR, City of Santa Fe, N3B Los Alamos. Santa Fe Community College, Northern New Mexico College, New Mexico Tech, MathHappens Foundation, Enterprise Bank & Trust, Sandia National Laboratories, Santa Fe Community Foundation – Las Campanas Community Grants Fund, NM Childrens’ Foundation, McCune Foundation, and Meow Wolf.
