Explore Signs Of Spring And Pollinators With PEEC’s May Naturalist Kit – Orders Due Sunday

Order your May Nature Playtime Naturalist Kit from the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) by Sunday, May 2 at 9 p.m. In this kit, participants will explore signs of spring and pollinators! This will be PEEC’s final Naturalist Kit, so order yours while they last!

Help your child learn about the natural world while playing outside! Sign up to receive PEEC’s Nature Playtime Naturalist Kit for the month of May. May’s theme is signs of spring and pollinators. This will be PEEC’s final Naturalist Kit, so this is your last chance to check them out!

Naturalist Kits are filled with hands-on nature activities connected to natural processes happening outdoors. Included are materials and naturalist information for four weeks of activities about the theme. Participants also have the option to join PEEC’s private Facebook group, where a PEEC educator will help introduce the activities and allow time for children to share their discoveries and connect with other children participating. These kits are designed for children ages 3 – 8 years old with adult support. Activities can be completed at home or at a nearby natural area.

In May’s kit, participants will explore features of the spring season, including flowers and insects. They’ll do watercolor painting, watch the wind and clouds, make a bee hotel, look for bugs, play with flowers and more. The kit will include the book “Flowers Are Calling” by Rita Gray. Additional contents include a scavenger hunt, watercolors, reeds for a bee hotel, construction paper, glue and a pipette for a flower pollination activity, an insect guide, a pitfall trap and a bug box for examining your catches!

Registration for the May kit will close on Sunday, May 2 at 9 p.m. Kits can be picked up at the Los Alamos Nature Center on Monday, May 3 from 12 – 1 p.m. PEEC also offers a delivery option! If you’d like your kit delivered to your doorstep by a PEEC volunteer, select that option at checkout. Delivery is only available in Los Alamos County.
