Members of the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos have been collecting bikes donated by citizens of Los Alamos.  The project is a part of the national Free Bikes 4 Kidz campaign.  Cheryl Pongratz, Immediate Past-President of the club, responded to a request from the LANL Community programs office to assist with the effort.  She then secured permission from Immaculate Heart of Mary parish pastor, Father John Daniel, to collect the bikes at the parish hall.

On Friday and Saturday Kiwanians collected bikes and stored them in the parish hall.  Over 150 bikes were received by noon on Saturday.  The community of Los Alamos is very generous!

The Kiwanians now face the challenge of transporting those bikes to a collection station at Santa Fe Place Mall on Sunday.
