Department of Health Celebrates National Public Health Week

DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH NEWS

Today, the New Mexico Department of Health (DOH) recognized National Public Health Week (April 5-11) by celebrating the many contributions of the state’s public health system and the dedicated staff who serve the population of New Mexico.

Over the last year, New Mexicans have been tested by the impact of COVID-19, and DOH has been there every step of the way. In the midst of the most challenging public health crisis of our lifetimes, it is more important than ever to celebrate public health’s commitment to New Mexico.

“With the ongoing support of our community partners and the people of New Mexico, we will continue to fight this terrible virus while working to improve healthy equity in our state,” DOH Secretary Dr. Tracie Collins said.

DOH works to improve the health of all New Mexicans by ensuring a safe healthcare environment and expanding access to health services, especially for the state’s most vulnerable populations. DOH also developed a video to highlight the achievements of its eight divisions over the last year.
