LAPS NEWS
Starting Monday, April 5, a standard breakfast and lunch pack provided by the State of New Mexico will be available to every student attending class on campus. Distribution will vary at each school site so please reach out to your student’s school administrative staff for details.
Students would be provided the opportunity to pick up a chilled grab-N-go breakfast and lunch pack during each school day. These meals packages include a fruit, vegetable (lunch only), milk, grain, and protein (or protein alternative) as directed by the USDA. Students do not have to take the meal but if a student chooses to take a meal, all items in the bag must go with the student. This service is available to every student at no expense to the parent/guardian.
For Online Learning Students attending the Los Alamos Online Learning Academy (LAOLA) or Topper Virtual Academy May pick up multi day meal kits on Tuesdays and Fridays at the Los Alamos Middle School Football Field roundabout between 3:15 and 3:40 p.m.
Over Spring Break, meals will be available for pickup at Aspen Elementary and Piñon Elementary on Tuesday, Mar. 30 and Friday, April 2 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m..
Chartwells and Los Alamos Public Schools have been participating in the Universal Free Breakfast and Lunch program for the entire school year. Although all meals are free until May 28, you can help the district by applying for a Chartwells account and completing the Free and Reduced lunch application. The information is kept confidential. These applications help LAPS with critical funding for other programs around the district. It is helpful if EVERY family who may be eligible completes an application. Instructions and applications can be found under the Free and Reduced Application and Documents tab at https://laschools.net/chartwells-dining/or you can contact Joe Palmer at 663-2218 or j.palmer@laschools.net.
