Los Alamos County Councilor
Like thousands of others, I quit playing Magic: The Gathering following the release of the Mercadian Masques set. And like the beebles, I played again briefly around the Unhinged set.
I bring this up because one of my goals as a Los Alamos County councilor is openness, or if you like, demystifying the County government. Now that the County has achieved turquoise status, I feel more comfortable organizing in-person events—to listen to your concerns, and to share what I’ve learned.
With the help of White Rock Toys and Gaming, at 108 Longview Drive, I’ll be holding a weekly “Magic with a County Councilor” at their store. This will be every Sunday—starting this Sunday, March 28—at 3:00 p.m., and going until the gaming and conversation are over.
The main format will be Commander (see https://magic.wizards.com/en/content/commander-format for more information), though limited formats (draft and sealed deck) are an option if there’s enough interest. I just don’t own enough modern cards to play Constructed, and I don’t want to encourage the decadence of Vintage or Legacy.
So come hang out this Sunday! If you don’t already know how to play, I’m happy to teach you. If you don’t own any cards, one advantage of Commander is that you can buy a deck for $20. If you don’t want to play but do want to talk about local events, then come anyway. The only requirement, as our friend the Computer said: happiness is mandatory.
