Master Gardener Classes To Start Week Of March 15

If you are desiring inspiration for this year’s garden or landscaping, now is the time to register for the Master Gardener course offered by the Los Alamos County and New Mexico State University Cooperative Extension Service.  Due to COVID precautions, all classes will be held virtually.  The first class will start the week of March 15. Because of being on-line participants will be able to view the class over a period of several days.  In addition each week on Thursday, 11 a.m. Carlos Valdez, the Los Alamos County Extension agent will add local information to that week’s topic. His presentation will also be recorded giving participants an opportunity to view on personal time schedules. 

Cost for the 13 classes is $200. Because the classes will be recorded and on-line, registration continues until Friday, April 2. Scholarships are available.  The topics to be covered include the following:   Grasses & Turf; Basic Botany and Plant ID; Soil Biology: Climate and Water; Weeds; Entomology I; Integrated Pest Management; Vertebrate Pests; Vegetable Production; Fruit Production; Plant Pathology and Diagnosis; Shrubs and Trees; and Grape Production.
