\he Los Alamos Police Department has recently initiated criminal cases into fraud involving unknown callers soliciting funds. These callers have identified themselves as employees or officers from the Los Alamos Sheriff’s Office or Los Alamos Police Department requesting the individuals they are calling to pay a bond for contempt of court for failing to appear for jury duty. Neither the sheriff’s office or the police department would ever make these calls requesting payment for such offense.

If residents are contacted by callers requesting such payment, they should not give payment and call the Los Alamos Police Department immediately and speak with an officer to validate the request.
