No proposals were received by the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities board for executive director services by the January 14 deadline and it is not clear what this means for the Coalition’s future.

Since the departure of former executive director Eric Vasquez at the end of the Chicanos Por La Causa contract term in August 2020, some of the executive director’s responsibilities have been assumed by assumed by board members and their individual government entities. Santa Fe County has facilitated agendas, minutes and public meetings. The City of Espanola handled the procurement side of the request for proposals for the executive director services, the City of Taos agreed to maintain the website and Los Alamos County agreed to prepare the application for the $100,000 grant from the Department of Energy Environmental Management.

There had been speculation that there would be limited interested in the executive director position because unless the DOE funding is received the contract would be for half the $15,000 per month paid to CPLC under the previous contract. As of Tuesday, the grant application had not been submitted to DOE.

The RCLC board is slated to meet virtually Friday at 1:30 p.m. Included on the agenda are both the DOE application and the RFP. For more information on the meeting and how to virtually attend, go to regionalcoalitionnm.org.
