Luján Condemns Wednesday’s Violence At U.S. Capitol

Sen. Ben Ray Lujan

U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement regarding insurrection and violence at the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday:

“The siege of the U.S. Capitol by rioters endangered lives and represented a direct attack on our nation’s democracy. What took place today is not how we resolve our differences in this country.

“As soon as it is safe to do so, I will return to the Senate chamber and get back to work to protect the Constitution. Congress will complete its count of the Electoral College votes and defend the will of the American people.

“I am grateful to the Capitol Police who worked to defend the Capitol and keep Members, staff, and journalists safe.”
