Freedom Church Invites Community To 12 (Virtual) Days Of Christmas In Los Alamos Dec. 13-25

COMMUNITY NEWS

Freedom Church Los Alamos is hosting a virtual ‘12 Days of Christmas in Los Alamos’ event and the entire community is invited.

“The party gets started Dec. 13 and runs through Christmas day,” stated Pastor Mike Brake, the lead pastor at Freedom Church in Los Alamos.

The events will be hosted entirely on Facebook, through this direct link: https://www.facebook.com/events/377761059997072

Each day throughout the event, Freedom Church will unlock one of 12 daily gifts, like scavenger hunts, a Nativity Escape Room activity for kids, a Cookie Recipe Exchange, and a Surviving the Holidays grief support group, just to name a few. There will also be several Facebook livestreams with messages of hope, a retelling of the account about the birth of Jesus, as well as inspiring stories of life change.

Most days will include prizes and giveaways. Some will happen over the course of the 12 days, while others will happen completely within a 24-hour period. More details can be found at www.ChristmasInLosAlamos.com

For the past two years, Freedom Church has hosted a Christmas Eve service at Ashley’s Pond for those who were looking for a different sort of Christmas Eve experience or did not have a home church to attend.

“This year is going to have to be different,” Pastor Mike explained, when the Freedom Church team began thinking about the Christmas season.  “Maybe we can’t do what we expected, but God creates some amazing opportunities in the unexpected and difficult times.”

Pastor Mike further elaborated that, “Instead of people coming to a single event on Christmas Eve, we can do so much more online over a couple of weeks, and the possibilities within that are incredible!  There is so much need and opportunity to spread hope and love like never before during this season, which will go down in history as perhaps the most difficult this community and the nation has ever seen.”

The idea behind the 12 Days of Christmas is partly an extension of what has already been happening since the pandemic lockdown first started last March.  Since that time, Freedom Church has given over $18,000 to local residents who suddenly found themselves in financial need like never before.

“During the 12 Days of Christmas events, Freedom Church will be giving away at least $10,000 to the Los Alamos community that will go directly to Los Alamos residents in need, local small businesses and non-profits, and some to contest winners,” explained Pastor Mike.

“We wanted to find a way to give hope, encouragement, and financial help to Los Alamos, while having some fun and building community in the coming weeks.  We’re excited to be able to offer a way where everyone can participate in the giving by finding a need and meeting that need.”

People can submit requests on behalf of families, individuals, or small businesses/non-profits in the community through the Christmas Carefinder form at: www.ChristmasInLosAlamos.com/carefinder

Freedom Church does everything they can to provide a low-pressure environment where people feel welcomed and valued. Sunday Facebook livestreams at 5:30 PM are very active and engaging for anyone who participates.
