Los Alamos County Library System Operations staffers Shannon Ferrell, left, and Effie Casciotta prep for a library curbside pick-up shift at Mesa Public Library. The weekly items-out-the-door average is 500+ books, dvds, and other library materials. Some afternoons at the main library are so busy that staff answer as many as 100 to 130 phone calls from patrons looking to pick up their holds. Mesa Public Library and the White Rock Branch are changing curbside pick-up hours to accommodate patrons who need weekend access to materials pick-up. Starting on Tuesday, Dec. 8, items can be picked up Tuesday-Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be no curbside service on Monday, Dec 7 at either library.
