Stellar Knitting Offers Handcrafted Treasures For The Holiday Season

Stella Koutsoukali Cverna is a proud cat mom and a former cat rescuer from Athens, Greece. She learned to knit by watching her grandmother while growing up and returned to her self-taught skill for fun when she moved to Los Alamos about seven years ago.  Stella says friends were participating in craft fairs and suggested she try and show off some of her knitting. ‘I loved the local fairs and meeting and chatting with people, as they looked at my goods. I still have return customers from my first fair, which makes me really happy,” she said. Of course, this year, because of COVID, all the fairs have been cancelled.  Stella and a few fellow artisans staged a small ‘crafts crawl’ outdoors at their homes a few weeks ago and another one is planned for Saturday, Dec. 5, weather and COVID permitting hope to do another, weather permitting. Stella’s Facebook page, ‘Stellar Knitting’ shows examples of her knitted accessories including beanies, scarves, headbands and catnip toys. More of her work is featured at The Cricket Window in Los Alamos. She also does custom orders. Message her on her Stellar Knitting Facebook page for more information. Courtesy photo
