LOS ALAMOS JJAB NEWS
Would you like to support literacy? The love of reading and learning for the youngest children in our community? Encourage parent-child engagement? The Los Alamos affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library does all of that and you can help.
The Los Alamos affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is sponsored by Los Alamos JJAB and made possible by funders and private donors. The program is for children, newborn up to the age of 5, who reside in Los Alamos County. Each month registered children receive, in the mail, a free age-appropriate book.
Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Just $25 can provide a child with one book every month for an entire year! Thank you for your support.
The Los Alamos affiliate of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library began in October 2017 and since that time 17,136 books have been mailed to 841 children within the County. Local parents have shared:
“It has made a HUGE impact as that is a way my husband and child have bonded. My son will grab a book and bring it over to us. He’s learning the word “again” as we read him stories he loves. He is learning independence by grabbing a book and looking over it himself. My heart is overwhelmed seeing my husband interact with our son and get excited as they read a story together.”
“I love love love the imagination library. So many of these books are ones I would never have thought to buy but are some of my daughter’s favorites.”
“I like that they do bilingual books and some really popular books, like the hungry caterpillar. There are books I would have never bought that my kids have loved. So grateful for it.”
