Are you looking to add a few pumpkins to your house this year? Well you’re in luck! Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish is hosting a pumpkin patch fundraiser. The money raised will help fund youth activities at the parish.
The pumpkin patch will be running daily from Oct. 16 to Oct. 31 from 1p.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends. Sign up for an appointment by clicking the link below or stop by for a walk-in appointment. Remember to indicate the number of people in your party under “quantity.” Families that require extra social distancing can sign up for a private appointment between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Saturday mornings.
The pumpkins range from about the size of a baseball for $1 up to very large pumpkins for about $40. There will also be a variety of decorative gourds that are priced between $1 and $10. All of the pumpkins come from farms in the Navajo Reservation in northern New Mexico. Growing these pumpkins provided 25 full time jobs and 600 seasonal jobs in an area where unemployment is almost 40 percent.
Besides plenty of large, orange squash, the pumpkin patch will include a children’s maze and a fall selfie booth. There will also be a bake sale on Sunday, Oct. 25 beginning at 10 a.m. The proceeds from the bake sale will benefit holiday food baskets for families in need of assistance.
