Public Works Dept.: 

Barranca Mesa 3 Subdivision Improvements Project 

TLC Plumbing and Utility crews will be placing concrete on Camino Encantado. Residents are asked to use caution in the work zone. 

Mirador Subdivision in White Rock 

Contractor will be placing curb and gutter and asphalt. Residents are asked to use caution in the work zone. 

Pedestrian and ADA Accessibility Along Trinity Drive from Oppenheimer to 39th Street 

GM crews will be working in the area of 36th Street and 37th Street along Trinity Drive. Crews will complete work on ADA ramps and place colored concrete in the sidewalk buffer area. Construction is almost complete on the north side of Trinity. GM will commence work on the south side in the next couple weeks and move eastward. 

Lane Closure on Sherwood Blvd 

The contractor will be tapping the main water line and extending a new waterline into the Splash Pad at 10 Sherwood Blvd. Motorists should be aware of intermittent lane closures and flagging personnel during this time period. There is not a total closure expected 

Traffic & Streets Division: 

Modular Home Transport – Diamond Drive, Arizona Ave 

Two transport companies will be transporting halves of a modular home Monday at 1:00 p.m. along the following route: Omega Bridge to Diamond Drive, left on Trinity Drive to 48th Street, to Sandia Drive, left on Diamond Drive and left on the second Arkansas entrance, right on Yucca Street. 1st right on 45th Street and then right on Arizona Ave. Los Alamos Police Department will assist in escorting both transports to the site on Arizona Ave.  Questions regarding this project should be directed to Traffic and Streets at 505-662-8113. 

Crane Transport – Main Hill Road (NM502), Diamond Drive, Arizona Ave 

On Tuesday beginning at 7:00 a.m., Crane Services, Inc., in coordination with Los Alamos Police Department, will be transporting a crane up NM502 Main Hill Road, through the new round-about on to Trinity Drive to Diamond Drive and to Arizona Ave. The crane will then leave from Arizona Ave., to Diamond, on to Trinity and back down NM502 Main Hill Road at 6:00 p.m. with a police escort. Traffic is urged to plan ahead as the Main Hill Road will be temporarily closed at both ends to allow the crane to safely move up and back down the hill. Arizona Ave., near Mitchell Trailhead – Road Closure 

Karsten Homes will be closing a section of the North side of Arizona Ave., between 4296 Arizona Ave., and the Mitchell Trailhead. They will be installing a modular home. The work zone will include half of the North side of Arizona Ave., along with the sidewalk. This closure will occur Monday and be completed on Tuesday. Pedestrian traffic will need to access the Mitchell Trailhead from the South sidewalk along Arizona Ave and cross over at the intersection of Arizona Ave and 45th Street.  

In addition, on Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Arizona Ave., at 4296 will be closed to through traffic. Traffic control devices will guide both vehicle and pedestrian traffic around the work zones. All traffic is urged to slow down and follow all traffic devices in this location. Los Alamos County Owned Parking Lot Striping Project 

Crews will be striping county owned parking lots starting Monday and continuing through November 6th.   Crews will be closing parking lots as needed and notifying occupants as they proceed. They will begin with Aquatic Center, Community Building North, Community Building South, East Park/Animal Shelter, Eco Station, Fire Station 6 (East Rd), Pajarito Cliffs Site (Public Side), and finally the Municipal Building. Work will commence daily at 7 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. The public is asked to maintain a safe distance from the crews painting these parking lots. County Wide Curb Cleaning and Painting Project 

Crews will be cleaning and re-painting curbs county-wide during the month of October. Pedestrian Traffic may be temporarily obstructed depending on location. The public is asked to maintain a safe distance from the crews painting these surfaces. Ski Hill Shoulder Work 

Crews will be continuing shoulder work on Ski Hill Rd Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with flagging operations in place. All questions regarding this project should be directed to Scott Halder, Streets Superintendent, at 505-412-7854. 

South Side of Trinity Drive Sidewalk Replacement (between Oppenheimer and Diamond) 

GM Emulsion crews will be replacing sections of sidewalk starting August 13 and will continue through November 13, 2020. Work will commence at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. daily. Sidewalks on the South side of Trinity will be closed off as they move toward Diamond. Other projects: 

NM502 Roundabout Construction & Road work (State DOT, Star Paving) 

No change to traffic control from last week. There is one lane open in each direction from Tewa Lp to DP Rd. Access to local streets from Tewa Lp to Arroyo Ln will still be provided. 

Access to Central Ave and 4th St from NM 502 remains closed until further notice for construction of the roundabout. Central Ave and 4th St can still be accessed via Knecht Street. 

DP Rd (Work related to Canyon Walk Apts and The Bluffs) 

Qualcon Builders, LLC – 120 DP Road Utility Infrastructure Replacement 

No construction activities within DP Road the week of Oct. 19. Work within DP Rd is expected to resume the week of October 26.  During trenching activities the portions of DP Rd impacted will be restricted to one-lane traffic controlled by a flagged/signaled system.  One-lane traffic restrictions will occur only during hours of construction potentially from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm daily.  Access to businesses in this area will be maintained during these activities. 

Vehicles and pedestrian traffic are urged to follow all traffic control devices and maintain a safe distance from the work zones listed above.
