Join Bandelier National Monument’s Bird Banding Intern Zoë Moffett at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 for a live streamed talk all about owls! During this presentation, Zoë will discuss the broad range of owl species that exist in New Mexico (who differ greatly in size, habitat, and diet), the special adaptations of owls for their nocturnal lifestyle, how the public can support healthy habitats and diets for their owl neighbors, and some conservation concerns for the owls of New Mexico.

Zoë will also briefly discuss a study of Flammulated Owls that takes place in Woodland Park, CO that she was previously a part of.

Attendees will learn more about the owls that may be in their backyard, as well as the ones who depend on our surrounding forests and landscapes!

Moffett is the current Bird Banding Intern at Bandelier National Monument and works with PEEC to help educate students in our region’s public schools about bird banding. She has a B.A. in organismal biology and ecology and worked for a summer on a research crew that studies Flammulated Owls in Woodland Park, CO.

Throughout October, we’ll be exploring some of the other spooky creatures that you can find in New Mexico. After this owl talk, be sure to tune in for upcoming programs on spiders and bats!

We are offering pay-what-you-can pricing for our online talks. Want to help more? Become a PEEC member today!
