The Excellence in Teaching Award, a partnership between the LANL Foundation and Centerra, Los Alamos, honors teachers and brings encouragement and support to the education profession in Rio Arriba County and Pojoaque.
A total of seven $1,000 awards will be given out per school year. Qualified nominees must have taught at their current K-12 public, Tribal, or charter school in Rio Arriba County or Pojoaque for at least three years. Current and former students, teachers, administrators, and other colleagues may submit nominations. Prior winners are not eligible.
Teachers can be nominated by filling out a form by the October 8, 2020 deadline at https://www.lanlfoundation.org/our-work/k-12-programming/excellence-teaching-award/how-nominate-teacher.
Winners will be selected by a committee of LANL Foundation and Centerra staff as well as community members. Awards will be announced first to the nominator and the winner’s principal prior to the 2020 end-of-year break. Recipients will be informed of their award during a surprise school assembly, followed by local media coverage.
