The Family YMCA’s Board of Directors announced the selection of Chris Daniels as the new CEO for the organization as of today, September 1, 2020. Daniels’s selection comes as a result of former CEO Rob Wilkinson’s family relocating.
Daniels brings a wealth of experience to the Y. His association with the Y began in February 2014 when he was hired as the Finance Director. In October 2018, he was promoted to Director of Operations and Finance. Chris has served the Y’s as Acting CEO since March, providing valuable leadership through the closing and re-opening of the Y during the pandemic.
“I can’t think of a better person to lead The Family YMCA at this difficult time,” says Board President Deb Huling. “Chris is a proven leader who is respected in both the Los Alamos and Española communities served by our Y. He exemplifies the Y’s values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, and has led the Y as we have worked through a global pandemic in one of our most tumultuous times.”
Daniels’s formal training is in social work and counseling and he has a well-developed background in management of non-profits focusing on social services. He has over 15 years of experience as a finance director for non-profits such as the Tuolumne River Trust in the Bay Area.
Daniels is both enthusiastic and realistic about the challenges and needs that exist for the near and distant future. “I am looking forward to restoring programs safely and envisioning new ways that we can serve our community,” said Daniels.
Daniels loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, backpacking, rafting and show shoeing with his family.
