A unique crocheted afghan made by Shari Mills will be raffled this coming Saturday, Aug. 15, to raise money for a scholarship fund in memory of Carson Cannon.
Carson is the son of Reed and Heidi Cannon who died suddenly last December. He was 16 years old and would have graduated May 2021 from Los Alamos High School.
The intricate design of the afghan meant it that it took Mills close to 100 hours to crochet and will be a treasure for whoever is fortunate enough to win it.
Tickets for the raffle are $10 each or $20 for three and are available at the High Mesa Dental Arts offices at
- 555 Oppenheimer Suite 202 in Los Alamos and
- 106A Longview Drive (behind Smith’s) in White Rock
Tickets can also be obtained by emailing Mills at shelliott50@hotmail.com and she will make arrangements for no-contact pick-up or delivery.
The scholarship will be administered by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation which will help find a deserving student within the parameters of the scholarship.
Donations to the scholarship will also be accepted at both High Mesa Dental Arts locations until further notice.
