An owl rescued July 25 by Los Alamos County Councilor James Robinson and his brother, Los Alamos Police Det. Joey Robinson after it got trapped in a batting cage net at Bomber Field last month, was released Wednesday evening in the same location.

The owl was taken to Cottonwood Rehab in Espanola where it was treated and cared for by Dr. Kathleen Ramsay. The bird had some minor wounds and appeared to have hurt one of its wings. After some getting some rest for a couple of weeks, the owl was ready to be released back into the wild.

“This was a wonderful release made possible because of the caring people of Los Alamos. By finding help quickly, we were able to limit the owl’s injuries. All he needed was some rest and relaxation. With that, he returned home.” Councilor Robinson said.
