The Los Alamos Public Library System invites you to our upcoming cycle of Library Conversations on speculative fiction. Come join us on Zoom for a series of short story discussions around the theme of Afrofuturism in science fiction. We’ll discuss some current Afrofuturism, some Afro-Retro-Futurism, a classic Afrofuturist story, and a winner of the Nommo Award presented by the African Speculative Fiction Society. We’ll also introduce some further resources for engaging with Afrofuturism on your own time.
Discussions will be on Zoom at 7:00 p.m. on July 23, August 6, August 20, and September 3. Visit https://tinyurl.com/ycolc3nu to get the links to the Zoom meeting and to each of the stories we will be discussing, as well as to see more information on Afrofuturism.
Library Conversations is a continuing series of virtual gatherings for adults where we’ll talk about short stories, book excerpts, and even watch short videos on topics of interest. Subjects this quarter range from anti-racism to hiking and beyond.
