SCIENCEFEST NEWS
The Los Alamos STEAM Lab has partnered with Los Alamos MainStreet and the Creative District to launch an engaging in-person and virtual scavenger hunt leveraging Breakout boxes for Los Alamos ScienceFest 2020: Eyes On the Future.
Similar to an escape room, but at a smaller scale, a breakout box is a box secured with a six-lock hasp. Teams need to solve clues in order to get the combinations for each lock to open the hasp and unlock the box. Clues can be solved in any order and teams can try out the combinations as they think they’ve solved each lock or try them all at once.
Participate virtually, or in-person, and uncover clues that lead you around Los Alamos. An immersive, learning platform with different boxes for different audiences and skill levels. Winners will be entered into a raffle for some cool ScienceFest prizes!
The boxes are located Wednesday-Friday from 2-5 p.m. outside projectY cowork, 150 Central Park Square, near Pet Pangaea and Rose Chocolatier. They will also be accessible Saturday and Sunday by Fuller Lodge Lawn from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The box will be sanitized between tries.
More instructions and the clues can be found at LASTEAMLab.com or on LosAlamosScienceFest.comLosAlamosScienceFest.com under “Tours and Activities.” Tag Los Alamos ScienceFest in photos of you engaging in this ScienceFest activity! #LosAlamosScienceFest2020
