The 2020 Jim Sims Memorial Engineering Scholarship has been awarded to James Zachary Beck and Roshan Prasad. The scholarship was created to honor long time Los Alamos resident and LANL engineer Jim Sims.

Sims worked for 34 years at Los Alamos National Laboratory as a design engineer and leader of project engineering teams. Sims was a gifted Mechanical Engineer with a distinguished career. He was essential to the success of highly visible programs that have enhanced the scientific and engineering reputation of the Laboratory. Sims was also committed to mentoring young engineers, designers, and students, generously sharing his knowledge and experience.

James Zachary Beck is the son of Jill Beck and James Bradley Beck. He will attend Montana State University in the fall where he will study Mechanical Engineering.

Roshan Prasad is the son of Lakshman and Gauri Prasad. He will study aerospace engineering at Texas A&M University. 

The Jim Sims Memorial Engineering Scholarship is administered by the Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation, an independent organization that that supports, challenges, and invests in a successful future for all Los Alamos public school students.
