The New Mexico High School Clay Target Association 2019-2020 season has closed. COVID-19 concerns caused the season to be shortened by two events. High overall average is calculated using the three best scores, however this year some athletes did not have three scores by the time things shut down. It should be noted that these athletes competed with athletes from all over the state of New Mexico.

Even with all the disruption, the Los Alamos Young Guns achieved 3^rd Place High Overall team in the state.

State High Overall Varsity Female:
Chantry Stermer – 1^st place
Alyssa Vigil – 8^th place
Sarah Randall – 10^th place
Monica Smith – 14^th place
Brooke Trujillo – 16^th place

State High Overall Intermediate Female:
Maria Lucero, 2^nd place, only two targets behind 1^st place
Isabel Robles, 7^th place, only two scores and still took 7^th

State High Overall Varsity Male:
Gavin Robles, 11^th place
Sam Bond, 30^th place, with only two scores
Andres Chacon, 31^st place

The following is the breakdown of the scores and placing of the Los Alamos Young Guns shooters in the competitions which were used to calculate the State high overall results.

RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE – FARMINGTON
The first competition, the Rumble in the Jungle, was held at the San Juan Wildlife Federation Ranges in in Farmington. The Los Alamos Young Guns team was able to earn a team score of 1,163 broken targets by fielding a five-person squad which earned them third place in the competition.

Singles – Gavin Robles, 8^th
Singles – Cade Pimentel, 9^th

Handicap – Sam Bond, 6^th
Handicap – Cade Pimentel, tied for 8^th place
Handicap – Gavin Robles took 9^th place

Doubles – Sam Bond, 3^rd
Doubles – Pimentel, 9^th

Seniors Bond and Pimentel will be missed in the 2020-2021 season.

The Los Alamos Young Guns team was unable to fill a five-person squad and had not team score.
Gavin Robles earned 9^th place for singles, 11^th place in handicap and 16^th place in doubles.

*Sam Bond’s two doubles scores were better than some athletes’ three scores and were counted in the end of the year high overall score which earned the team third place.

Los Alamos Young Guns had their best team performance of the year at this competition finishing in second place.
