Chamisa Elementary School Principal Craig Washnok and his daughter Campbell were caught being kind early Sunday morning. They put the word “kindness” on the Chamisa fence to honor their 4th graders and to spread the word of kindness.

The Cheetah 4th grade class is receiving the first ever “Coltin Hansel Kindness Award.” Coltin’s birthday would have been this Thursday, May 21. He died tragically Dec. 9, 2019. He was nine years old.

The dad and daughter duo put the word in blue, Coltin’s favorite color. The deed is to honor the life of Hansen, the 4th graders receiving the Coltin Hansel Kindness Award and to encourage everyone to spread kindness” during this challenging time.

A memorial tree was also planted in Coltin’s memory. Students are asked to place a painted rock under the tree spreading a word of kindness.
