CAMPAIGN 2020

State Representative Christine Chandler (D) is honored to announce the endorsements of the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) New Mexico and the National Education Association (NEA) New Mexico, two of the state’s largest professional unions, in her reelection campaign.

“We owe a great deal to New Mexico’s educators, and knowing that they are with me in my reelection campaign means a lot to me. These professionals are deeply invested in the futures of young people in our state,” said Representative Chandler. “I will continue to work to ensure that every child in New Mexico can receive the best education possible and that our teachers and staff have the support they need to be successful. For too long, our educators have lacked support for the incredibly important work that they do – but that’s changing. I was proud last year to support a historic investment in our state’s public education system.”

Representative Chandler has been a steadfast advocate for education and for workers. She has sponsored and co-sponsored legislation to place a nurse and social worker in every school, to prevent teachers from being penalized for missing work due to illness, to require disclosures from private post-secondary schools, and to ensure a fair complaint process for workers who have not received wages they are due.  She continues to advocate for statewide paid family and medical leave.

Representative Chandler has completed her first term representing House District 43 in Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, and Santa Fe counties. She is a member of the House Judiciary and Taxation & Revenue committees.
