LA CARES NEWS

LA Cares, our local food pantry, is serving Los Alamos County residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. At their April food box distribution, LA Cares saw a 22 percent increase over the previous month in community need for food assistance.

Food boxes are distributed once a month. The next food distribution is May 7 and 8. Please register for a food box by Sunday, May 3, 2020.  Residents will be asked to drive-thru to pick up their boxes during the pandemic.  For more details and to register for a food box, or for immediate food assistance, call the message line at (505) 661-8015.  You will be asked to leave your name, address, telephone, number of family members, special food needs (and/or food allergies) and need for pet food or baby items.  You will be contacted with information for picking up your food box.

At this time LA Cares cannot accept food donations, but cash donations are always appreciated and will become ever more critical as community need increases during this crisis.  Please send checks to LA Cares at P.O. Box 248, Los Alamos, NM 87544.

LA Cares is not accepting new volunteers at this time in order to maintain social distancing requirements and keep everyone safe.  A small group of 14 volunteers is working hard to assist Los Alamos County during this difficult time.  My sincerest thanks and appreciation to LA Cares for serving Los Alamos County residents during this difficult time.
