COUNTY NEWS
A water break that occurred Thursday morning, forced a closure of North Rd at Diamond Dr. While the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews were able to isolate the line at noon and stop the flow of water, North Roadd. was compromised and remains closed to all vehicles. Traffic to and from the Quemazon community is being rerouted on Sycamore.
County crews will be evaluating the integrity of the affected roadways and more specifically the sub-grade material beneath the asphalt, where the water ran though. Traffic and Streets Division Manager Juan Rael stated, “Safety of the traveling public is of the utmost concern and the crews will work on a temporary fix to get the road open as soon as safely possible.”
Permanent repairs to the waterline will be scheduled by DPU crews in the spring. For more information contact the Customer Care Center at 505.662.8333 or CustomerCare@lacnm.us.
