LOS ALAMOS ARTS COUNCIL NEWS

On Wednesday, Mar. 4, beginning at 12 p. m., Los Alamos Arts Council with host local artists Joy Charles and Aaron Anderson, for the lunchtime Brown Bag Performance Series.

Joy and Aaron will be playing quite the amazing collection of works. The audience will see them play jazz, folk, pop, and classical. Audience members will even be treated to some Sinatra, Panic! At the disco, Beethoven, and even some music from the very popular “Game of Thrones.”

Aaron Anderson has been playing piano in concert halls and bars (some with actual people in the audience) all over the Mountain West for over twenty years. He plays a lot of jazz, rock and blues. Joy Charles has played cello with some very cute barn yard animals. She plays a lot of classical music.

Five years ago, a couple needed a pianist and a cellist to play for their wedding, and thus began a fruitful collaboration and the unique Anderson-Joy sound. The duo takes songs that Aaron likes and songs that Joy likes, and put them together as a way to coerce the other into playing them. Usually it works out to form some kind of pleasing musical expression. By combining their different musical backgrounds, choosing music from a wide range of styles, and applying unique arrangements, they bring out the best in each other and in a song.

Los Alamos Arts Council invites the community to come during the lunch hour. Audience members are encouraged to bring their lunch from any of the fabulous local establishments, or bring something from home and enjoy a superb performance.
