LAFD Firefighter John P. Kelley Charged With Sexual Exploitation Of A Child – Possession

Los Alamos firefighter John P. Kelley has been arrested on charges of sexual exploitation of a child/possession. He is scheduled for arraignment on the charges this morning at 10:30 a.m. before Magistrate Judge Pat Casados.

Kelley has been in custody at the Los Alamos County Detention Center since his arrest Friday afternoon.

A request for information from Los Alamos Police Department was referred to Los Alamos County public information officer Julie Habiger who then released the following statement to the media:

“A Los Alamos County firefighter, John P. Kelley was arrested on Friday, Feb. 21 on charges of Sexual Exploitation of a Child/Possession. Pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation and in accordance with personnel policy, Kelley has been placed on inactive duty status and placed on leave without pay.   

“The County will be monitoring the situation closely and taking further administrative action as appropriate. 

“Because this is an ongoing criminal investigation, the County will have no other comment at this time.”

Further details on the case will be reported by the Los Alamos Reporter following the arraignment.
