The Los Alamos Young Guns traveled to Truth or Consequences to compete in the 2020 Chile Power Shoot-Off Feb. 1-2 hosted by Hatch Valley Bears.
The team came in fourth overall. Junior Chantry Stermer was high overall for varsity after winning a two-round shoot-off for singles champion. She took first place for both handicap and doubles.
Freshman Gavin Robles placed fourth in varsity handicap.
Intermediate female middle schooler Maria Lucero had a strong and steady performance placing third place high overall, taking third in singles, third in handicap and fourth in doubles.
Other Los Alamos Young Guns shooters rounding out the team were Sarah Randall, Alyssa Vigil and Andres Chacon.
The next competition for the team will be the Scholastic Clay Program’s regional event Mar. 28 and 29 at the NRA Whittington Center in Raton where they will compete with shooters from several other states.
