The Los Alamos Reporter has received several requests for information concerning an incident Wednesday which drew several Los Alamos Police Department units to the Sullivan Field park. Students reported that officers had their weapons drawn.

The Los Alamos Reporter observed a vehicle being removed from the scene by a tow truck and contacted LAPD for information.

On Thursday morning, LAPD initially declined to comment on the incident other than to say that “there is an active investigation involving juveniles”.

LAPD Chief Dino Sgambellone confirmed Friday morning that the investigation remains open.

“Essentially it was a fight that started at Starbucks and ended up in the Sullivan Lot.  As the call made mention of weapons, the officers did have their weapons drawn.  There is no ongoing threat to public safety,” he said.

Further details will be published as they are made available.
