Y Is Taking Trail Summer Job Applications, Mar. 16 Deadline

The Family YMCA is taking application packages for employment in their Summer Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program from now through March 16. The positions are open to all regional youth.

The Y is hiring up to 30 positions. The program is restricted to New Mexico residents ages 14-25. Bus passes will be provided to youth who must commute to the job.

Early application is highly recommended. Application packages and job descriptions are available online at laymca.org/y-corps.  Applications require two reference forms (included in the packet) that must be reattached to the end of the packet.

Applications are also available at the Los Alamos and Española YMCA teen centers and may be turned in to those locations. Applications will be taken at the teen centers until close of business, 8 pm, on Monday, March 16, or delivered by 10 pm to The Family YMCA, 1450 Iris Street in Los Alamos. The Y is open on weekends to take applications.

Positions run from June 1 – July 31. Trail crew members will earn $11/hour, and leaders, who must be 18-25 years of age, will earn $13/hour. The Y is also hiring a Trainer who must have extensive trail building experience and administrative, report-writing skills.

Los Alamos County and the Espanola Ranger District are partnering with the Y to provide trail work this summer. The State of New Mexico’s Youth Conservation Corps program provides funding to programs to perform works for public use.
