Rep. Roberto ‘Bobby’ Gonzales
STATE NEWS
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham named Rep. Roberto “Bobby” Gonzales, D-Ranchos de Taos, to fill the state Senate seat vacated by the death of Sen. Carlos Cisneros.
“For more than 20 years, Bobby Gonzales has served many of the same constituents he will now represent as senator with intelligence and integrity,” Lujan Grisham said in a statement.
Los Alamos County Council and Santa Fe County Commission had voted to nominate Kristina Ortez, also of Taos County to fill the position while Rio Arriba and Taos counties had nominated Gonzales who will fill the seat through 2020.
Rep. Chris Chandler, D-Los Alamos, told the Reporter Friday evening that she congratulates her colleague from Taos.
“His experience as a leader in the House will serve his district well. Los Alamos is fortunate to have such a knowledgeable legislator representing it in the Senate,” she said.
