Meet an astronaut this Friday, Dec. 13 as all teens are invited by the BSMA Teen Advisory Board to the Bradbury Science Museum at 5 p.m. to watch the movie Gravity, then afterwards have a discussion with astronaut Mike Mullane about what Gravity got right–and what it didn’t–about the science of space travel. Hot cocoa and cookies will be provided!
The BSMA Teen Advisory Board was created last year by LAHS senior Eleanor Henderson for her Girl Scout Gold Award project. She is currently president of the Board, and other board members include Emily Holmes (Vice President), Neha Sadasivan (Secretary/Treasurer), Ogden Berry (BSMA Liaison), Noah Lyons (Public Relations/Advertising Officer), Natalie Aulwes, Steven Bullock, Samuel Cirigliano, Filippo Delzanno, Malea Joyce, Victor Popa-Simil, and Sonya Svyatskaya.
The Teen Advisory Board hopes to increase teen interest in the Bradbury as well as in STEM, and they are looking forward to making a positive impact in the Los Alamos community. Additionally, they are accepting new applicants for the board! (Applicants must be high school-aged.) To access the application, please visit their website, https://sites.google.com/view/bsmateens/home or contact them at bsmateenadvisoryboard@gmail.com or check out their Instagram page, @bradburyteens.
