PAJARITO MOUNTAIN NEWS
Pajarito Mountain Ski Area begins its winter season this Friday with some 15 runs open. The Aspen lift, Beginner’s Lift and the magic carpet will all be running.
After a record snow year last year, Pajarito is poised for another season of skiing and snowboarding in Los Alamos.
“This will be one of our best openings in recent years,” said Tom Long, Pajarito general manager, “We’re thrilled to be opening so much terrain.”
Recent cool temperatures, continued snowmaking and regular snowfall have allowed the mountain team to open plenty of runs for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy the early holiday season on the slopes.
“We’re looking forward to a great opening with plenty of diverse terrain open,” said Long. “This latest storm system came through with an initial warm air mass and we just couldn’t make snow. Mother Nature gave us the push we needed with nine inches of natural snow over the weekend plus colder temperatures that have allowed us to make the snow we needed to be able to open.”
Runs open will include:
- Bruce’s Boulevard East and West
- Lone Spruce
- Daisy Mae Lil Abner
- Dog Patch
- Sundance
- Bonanza
- Pussycat
- Aspen
- Wildcat
- Lumberyard
- Mal
- East and West Mushroom
- Beginners’ East and West
- The Conveyor teaching area
Long noted that with continued good snowmaking weather, he hopes to open the Mother lift on Saturday. Pajarito will be open this weekend, closed during the week Dec. 16-19, and will re-open for daily operations beginning Friday, Dec. 20.
