Editor,
One exemplary attribute that no one can take away from Morrie Pongratz is that he has never sat on the sidelines relative to service to his community. Since early 1980s, he has been actively involved including serving on the County Council and School Board. Below follow a couple reasons to consider why Morrie should be elected to the School Board.
Recall and think about in the early 1980s, when young people needed safe activities, Morrie was there to spearhead, secure funding, and chaperone events for teens. Morrie has always kept youth as his highest priority. He has served for 30 years as a mentor for Key Club and was active in the development and continued success of the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board.
Also recall and think about in the 1980s, when the DOE $8 million school funding was at risk, Morrie was there to fight and work with other elected officials to attain Congressional legislation that would keep the school funding assured into the future. Morrie later worked to secure voter approval to invest in the schools. Morrie later served as a founding member of the Los Alamos School Foundation. Making life-long investments to Los Alamos schools has been Morrie’s second highest priority.
I have had the distinct privilege of working and serving with Morrie on the County Council, Juvenile Justice Advisory Board, Leadership Los Alamos for Youth, Los Alamos Pubic Schools Foundation, and Kiwanis. The number of hours, attention to detail, and building of fruitful relationships Morrie has invested is second to none.
Morrie wants to continue to give to his community, especially where it impacts youth. He delivers results. Please elect Morrie to the Los Alamos School Board.
