Seize the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of New Mexico (UNM) to be offered in Los Alamos. UNM-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) and the UNM School of Engineering are partnering on this initiative in response to an identified workforce need at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).
Information sessions on this program will be held on October 29, 2019. The first session, for LANL employees only, will be at 12 to 1 p.m. in the Jemez Room at the J. Robert Oppenheimer Study Center. The second session will be held at UNM-LA from 2 – 3 p.m. in room 631, and is open to all interested individuals.
UNM Mechanical Engineering Department Chair, Engineering Advisors, UNM-LA Administrators, and key LANL representatives will present an overview of the proposed program and host a question and answer session.
UNM-LA currently offers an Associate of Science degree in Pre-Engineering. Courses in the Associate degree program will be offered by UNM-LA in Spring and Summer 2020 to meet the demand for this new initiative.. UNM School of Engineering plans to offer upper division courses in Mechanical Engineering on the UNM-Los Alamos campus beginning Fall 2020.
