Conditions encountered after the report is compiled may differ, as stream, lake and weather conditions alter fish and angler activities.

Fenton Lake: Santiago Ramirez, age 17, of Los Lunas caught a 20-inch rainbow trout using a Thomas Cyclone spoon Oct. 20. Edward Vigil of Santa Fe caught a 19-inch rainbow trout using corn Oct. 16.

Gila River: Matthew Kennedy of Silver City caught and released a 13-pound, 4-ounce flathead catfish using cut carp Oct. 19.

San Juan River: Luke Tanner of Farmington caught a 23-inch rainbow trout below the dam using a brown Yong Special fly Oct. 18.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Micheal Reyes, age 11, of Albuquerque caught a 26-inch, 6.5-pound rainbow trout using garlic PowerBait Oct. 19.

Young Pond: Domenico Haning of Las Cruces caught a 22-inch, 5-pound channel catfish using string cheese as bait Oct. 18.

Bluewater Lake: Ann Chavez of Grants caught a 35-inch tiger muskie using a short crankbait Oct. 11.

Eagle Nest Lake: Celia Ea of Albuquerque caught a 21.5-inch rainbow trout using worms Oct. 12.

Fenton Lake: Debbie Duran of Rio Rancho caught a 19.5-inch rainbow trout using a nightcrawler with a bobber Oct. 12.

Grindstone Reservoir: Maria Vasquez of Las Cruces caught a 17-inch rainbow trout using yellow PowerBait Oct. 12.

Laguna del Campo: Gloria Guerin, age 10, of Albuquerque caught a 21-inch rainbow trout using nightcrawlers Oct. 13.

Rio Grande: Ken Resnick of Santa Fe caught and released a 21-inch rainbow trout and a 16-inch brown trout near Pilar using a fly rod and nymphs Oct. 13.

Rio Grande: Adam Walker of Alamogordo caught a 16-inch brown trout using a size 18 Firehead Hare’s Ear north of Santa Fe Oct. 14.

Cimarron River: Stream flow near Cimarron Monday morning was 35.0 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using caddis nymph flies and Golden Hare’s Ear flies.

Clayton Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using PowerBait and nightcrawlers. Fishing for catfish was fair to good using chicken liver. The boat ramp is closed due to low water levels.

Conchas Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Costilla Creek: Stream flow near Costilla Monday was 5.91 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Cowles Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Coyote Creek: Fishing for trout was fair using nymph flies.

Eagle Nest Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait and Panther Martin spinners. Fishing for pike was good using Rapala lures and spoons. We had no reports on other species this week.

Eagle Rock Lake: Fishing for trout was good using flies, PowerBait, salmon eggs and worms.

Fawn Lakes: The last report was that high runoff water has created poor fishing conditions.

Gallinas River: Fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners.

Hopewell Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using Pistol Pete spinners and PowerBait.

Lake Alice: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Maloya: Fishing for trout was good using silver spinners and PowerBait.

Los Pinos River: Fishing for trout was good using terrestrial fly patterns with a small bead head nymph dropper fly.

Maxwell Lake 13: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Monastery Lake: Fishing for trout was good using Griffith’s Gnat dry flies.

Morphy Lake: The lake is closed for a renovation project on the dam and no firm opening date has been set.

Pecos River: Stream flow near the town of Pecos Monday morning was 26.6 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using legged nymph flies, woolly buggers, salmon eggs, PowerBait and Panther Martin spinners.

Red River: Stream flow below the hatchery Monday morning was 41.2 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using salmon eggs, nymph flies, Blue Winged Olives, Copper Johns and pheasant tail flies.

Rio Grande: Stream flow at the Taos Junction Bridge Monday morning was 387 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using Panther Martin spinners, streamers, crane fly larva, Blue Winged Olives and pheasant tail nymph flies. Fishing for catfish near Albuquerque was slow to fair.

Rio Hondo: Stream flow Monday morning near Valdez was 12.2 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Mora: Stream flow Monday morning was 4.39 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using bead head nymph flies, worms and salmon eggs.

Rio Pueblo: Stream flow near Penasco Monday morning was 8.12 cfs. Fishing for trout was good using a variety of caddis dry flies, salmon eggs and Blue Winged Olives.

Shuree Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week. Fishing is open on the Valle Vidal, including Shuree Ponds, July 1-Dec. 31.

Springer Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Storrie Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Stubblefield Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Ute Lake: Fishing for white bass was fair using jigging slabs and blade baits in 25 to 35 feet of water. Fishing for walleye was fair to good vertical jigging in 30 to 35 feet of water. Fishing for catfish was fair. We had no reports on other species. The main lake was slightly stained and the water temperature was in the lower 60s.

Abiquiu Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week. Due to low water levels, anglers are advised to use four-wheel drive vehicles to launch boats and watch for obstructions on the water.

Animas River: Water flow below Aztec Monday morning was 267 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Albuquerque Area Drains: Fishing for bass was fair to good using nightcrawlers.

Bluewater Lake: Fishing for tiger muskie was fair using swimbaits, Rapalas and spinnerbaits. We had no reports on other species this week.

Brazos River: Fishing for trout was good using pheasant tail nymph flies, Panther Martin spinners and salmon eggs.

Canjilon Lakes: Fishing for trout was fair to good using flies and PowerBait.

Chama River: Monday morning flows below El Vado and Abiquiu were 554 cfs and 602 cfs respectively. Fishing for trout below El Vado Lake was good using leach pattern flies, tungsten bead head green scud flies, peacock nymph flies, salmon eggs, Panther Martin spinners, nightcrawlers and PowerBait. We had no reports from anglers fishing below Abiquiu Lake.

Cochiti Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

El Vado Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Fenton Lake: Fishing for trout was good using spoons, nightcrawlers and garlic-flavored PowerBait.

Heron Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Jemez Waters: Stream flow on the Jemez River near the town of Jemez Monday morning was 12.3 cfs. Fishing for trout was fair to good using salmon eggs, nymph flies and wax worms.

Laguna del Campo: Fishing for trout was fair to good using nightcrawlers and PowerBait.

Lagunitas Lakes: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Lake Farmington: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Manzano Lake: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait.

McGaffey Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Navajo Lake: Fishing for kokanee salmon using snagging hooks was good around the dam. Kokanee salmon snagging season is open Oct. 1 – Dec. 31. We had no reports on other species.

San Gregorio Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

San Juan River: Stream flow Monday morning was 506 cfs. Fishing for trout in the quality water was good using nymphs, dry flies, streamers, red and cream larva fly patterns, mono midge pupa patterns and crystal flash midge emergers. On the lower river into the bait waters fishing for trout was good using Baetis nymphs, Parachute Adams, Blue Winged Olives, worms and spinners.

Seven Springs Brood Pond: Fishing for trout was good using spinners, PowerBait, salmon eggs, leach pattern flies and salmon eggs.

Tingley Beach: Fishing was slow for all species.

Trout Lakes: Fishing for trout was good using PowerBait.

Alumni Pond: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bear Canyon Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bill Evans Lake: Fishing for bass was slow.

Caballo Lake: Fishing for largemouth bass was fair using yellow and red crank baits. We had no reports on other species.

Elephant Butte Lake: Fishing for white bass was fair using Kastmasters. Fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass was slow. Fishing for catfish was fair to good using live minnows, worms and beef liver. We had no reports on other species this week. The water temperature was in the mid-60s.

Escondida Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Gila River: Stream flow Monday morning was 42.2 cfs. Fishing for Gila trout was good using flies and red worms on Mogollon Creek. Fishing for catfish was good using cut carp.

Glenwood Pond: Fishing for trout was good using small dry flies, salmon eggs and PowerBait.

Lake Roberts: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Percha Dam: Fishing for all species was slow.

Quemado Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using PowerBait and worms.

Rancho Grande Ponds: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Rio Grande: Stream flow below Elephant Butte Monday morning was .26 cfs. Anglers reported a fish die off due to low water levels.

Snow Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Young Pond: Fishing for catfish was fair to good using cheese bait.

Alto Lake: Fishing for trout was fair to good using PowerBait and worms.

Bataan Lake: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Berrendo Creek: We had no reports from anglers this week.

Black River: Stream flow at Malaga Monday morning was 29.1 cfs. We had no reports from anglers this week.

Bonito Lake: The lake is closed until further notice by the city of Alamogordo due to fire damage. It appears now that the lake will be out of commission until the spring of 2020.
