PEEC NEWS
Stop by the Los Alamos Nature Center on Sunday, Oct. 20 from 1 – 3 p.m. for the Pajarito Environmental Education Center’s annual membership appreciation event, PEEC-nic. This event is open to the public, with special treats for PEEC members. There will be a variety of activities going on at the nature center for all ages this afternoon.
There will be hands-on educational activities from PEEC’s educators, a chance to meet the nature center’s resident animals, delicious desserts and ice cream making at PEEC-nic. A bird expert will be in the wildlife observation room throughout the event and there will be a guided hike into the canyon at 1:30 p.m.
In addition to these festivities, PEEC members will receive a special gift (while supplies last). If you aren’t already a PEEC member, now is a great time to sign up! If you join as a new member during PEEC-nic, you will receive one extra month on your membership.
If you bring a friend to PEEC-nic that has never been to the nature center, you will both receive a free planetarium voucher or a 10% discount coupon for the gift shop. PEEC’s weekly trail run and yoga session will also be free for all PEEC members to celebrate PEEC-nic. This is a great opportunity to try out these programs, both of which are led by PEEC’s Visitor Services Manager Christa Tyson. The trail run starts at 10:30 a.m. and yoga begins at 11:45 a.m. every Sunday.
