The Los Alamos Animal Shelter is closed today due to an outbreak of ringworm in the cats staying at the shelter.

LAPD Sgt. Daniel Roberts said the shelter’s procedure is to conduct a thorough, deep cleaning of the cat room, quarantine room and the entire shelter to contain exposure and ensure a safe environment.

“We anticipate only being closed today and reopening Tuesday, however, if more cleaning or time is required, we may not open tomorrow either,” Roberts said.
