Some 25 youth shooters participated in Saturday’s Northern New Mexico Youth Clay Target Challenge Saturday at the Los Alamos Sportsmen’s Club in Rendija Canyon.
Los Alamos Young Guns’ Isabella Robles was the overall winner for Under 12 Girls. Remington Drake of Albuquerque Trap Club was the overall winner for Under 12 Boys taking first in 5 stand and second in trap.
In the Girls 13-15 Division, Sarah Randall of Taos, took first place, Melanie Torres of Taos took second place, Alyssa Vigil of Ojo Sarco took third place and Brooke Trujillo of Ohkay Owingeh took fifth place. All four girls shoot for the Los Alamos Young Guns team.
In the Boys 13-15 Division, Gavin Robles of Truchas, shooting for the Los Alamos Young Guns took first place and Alexander Pasulka, a brand new shooter for the team, placed eighth.
Chantry Stermer of Cebolla, shooting for the Los Alamos Young Guns took second place overall in the Girls 16-18 Division.
In the 16-18 Boys Division, Sam Bond of Los Alamos took first place, Cade Pimentel also of Los Alamos took third place and Andres Chacon of Gallina took fifth place. All three boys are on the Los Alamos Young Guns team.
This weekend the team is competing in Farmington and next weekend in Raton.
The Los Alamos Young Guns team practices at the Los Alamos Sportsmen’s Club weekly and is coached by Mike O’Neill along with Alan Bond, Mike Bush and Boyd Randall.
