SPORTS NEWS
The Atomic Man Duathlon (run/bike/run) is taking place on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 21 from 8 a.m. to noon (approximately). Los Alamos County has issued the Los Alamos Triatomics Multisport Club a permit to close Grand Canyon Drive between Sherwood and Canada Way. This closure will be in effect from about 7 a.m. to allow for setup to about noon or when the last racer comes through.
During this time residents of Balboa Drive and Alhambra Drive will not be able to drive out onto Grand Canyon Drive and are advised to park outside the closure area if they want to leave the race venue by vehicle. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will try to address concerns of the neighborhood residents to the extent possible.
Additionally, there will be bike racers up and down Grand Canyon Drive between Pinon School and State Highway 4 with traffic control officers stopping traffic to let the bicyclists through. Also, runners will be racing along Sherwood Drive, Piedra Loop and La Senda Drive. We request residents of all these neighborhoods to exercise extra caution while traveling on these streets or exiting from any side streets.
Attached are two maps indicating the location of the road closures, the racing route and warning areas. Please contact board@triatomics.org with any concerns that you may have.
Paper registration can be done at Pinon Park on Friday, Sept. 20, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m or on race day before 7:30 a.m.
Sincerely
Los Alamos Triatomics Multisport Club
