Two Overnight Excavator Transports Slated For Saturday From DP Road To NM 4 Via Main Hill Road

Los Alamos County

COUNTY NEWS

N3B will be transporting two excavators from Technical Area 21 at the end of DP Road to Trinity Drive, crossing Marimac Plaza’s parking lot to Central Avenue, then east down NM502 to the Truck Route, beginning at 6:00 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7.

They will stop at the Truck Route Inspection Station for inspection, then resume transport after 8:00 a.m, traveling into White Rock on NM4 to Pajarito Road. Los Alamos Police Department officers will be assisting on site to close NM502 at the bottom of the Main Hill Road during these morning hours to allow the excavators to move safely down the Main Hill Road to NM4 and the Truck Route Inspection Station.

Early morning traffic should expect delays on Main Hill Road and the Truck Route near the inspection station during this time frame of 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7.

A similar type of move for one excavator took place on August 24 without incident and well within the projected three hour (6 a.m. to 9 a.m.) time frame, however, with two excavators moving off NM502, the move is more likely to take the full three hours spanning 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. this Saturday. Avoid these areas on Saturday and allow extra travel time for possible delays.
